MIHAI MARCOLT
I'm Mihai and for about ten years I've been returning to the same streets and photographing them again and again. Without intending to do so, my photography has gradually moved away from classic street photography and I've started to explore a territory on the border between surrealism and something that can be called a psychological landscape.
I want my images to make you look beyond what seems banal and to suggest that, beyond the superficiality of everyday life, there is another reality, one in which movement, obsessions, loneliness, discomfort and mortality naturally coexist.
I don't look for perfection, because I don't think it exists. I look for images that raise questions, that provoke anxiety and that awaken the feeling that you've been there before, although you can't say when or why.
Each photograph is an invitation to continue the story with your own fears, dreams and memories.
We can say that the city does not change so much as the way we learn to look at it.
