PhoS (photography and the street) are street photography colloquia! The PhoS events are taking place in various cities in the Balkans (Athens, Bucharest, Sofia, Istanbul ... ).
Walk the Talk
The "Walk the Talk" workshops can be joined on a First-Come-First-Served basis and up to a max of 12-15 participants.
We at PHOS want to make the most out of your presence and consequently the theoretical part (unlike traditional workshops) will be kept to a minimum and focused on ad-hoc problems appearing and discussed during the practice. You will be encouraged to leave your comfort zone and try visual cues (geometry, juxtapositions, shadows, alternative POVs, abstraction, symbolism ...)
You will be coached to put visual order in the chaotic urban space, observe, wait and shoot, "steal" a fugitive moment, or even "conceive" a scene.
At the beginning or at the end of the 3-hour session you will have the opportunity to hear/discuss a brief overview of street photography and its masters (Andre Kertesz, Henri Cartier-Bresson, Garry Winogrand, Robert Frank etc).
All participants must have a digital camera, (eventually) a laptop with photo editing software and a USB key.
